    Wow this is so …
Wow this is so inspiring I have to say. This is my 3rd year playing piccolo in high school, and it can be so hard for me to play it in tune and to make some of it’s high and shrill notes sound good. This really makes me want to keep trying and practicing so I can sound as beautiful as that. This was just so amazingly inspiring. <3

I play the piccolo, and I have to say that it’s so difficult to play in tune and make the normally shrill and ear-piercing instrument sound good. You two sound fabulous together, and this duet was extremely well played. My hat’s off to you guys. (:

ive been trying for a while to find a good piccolo duet, and this really is excellent. tuning with chords and same notes, same styling and articulation, and awesome tone. :D inspiration even more so for me to keep playing piccolo. its such a lovely instrument.

Yeah I was so excited when I got the low notes because they sound AWESOME!

Its true. I never really realized how much more difficult the embouchure was one the piccolo than the flute until I started playing the flute. The low notes on the flute were a bit challenging though.

This is wonderful. The tuning is great and the tone is beautiful form both of the performers. Very challenging to play piccolo this well. I applaud them heftily.
Does anyone know if this music is availible to the public?

i love the sound of the piccolo!!!yup i agree its hard to get in tune and the embouchure is different.u can only hear the airy sound instead of the tone if your embouchure and air concentration is wrong…i’ve been playing flute and piccolo for 6 years oready so i know :D

    That is in insanely …
That is in insanely good coordinating tune…especially for an instrument that is said to never have two in tune with the eachother. Amazing feat.

  • LucyyMaee says:

    There’s not much …
There’s not much difference between a flute and a piccolo. Same fingering and keys, it’s just the mouth position. And the hole is different, but it’s pretty much the same. Takes practice like anything else, but I found it easy to pick up.

  • SteshaAK says:

    Obviously not a …
Obviously not a serious flute player. Sure its the same thing if your just spitting out notes. But to have decent tone and play in tune it takes practice and is definitely NOT the same thing.

  • smtiellgopher says:

    Elaboration: I’ve …
Elaboration: I’ve been playing flute for less than a year. I could play it BUT the tone was not that great. It was really airy but I could still play it.

    Much agree, think …
Much agree, think of the flute embouchure like blowing thru a drinking straw.Think of the “Piccolo” embouchure like blowing thru a coffee stir straw.I found that my best results especially from G2 up is to make sure the inner part of the embouchure hole is at very bottom of my lip/top of my chin.
It has never affected my playing having the hole partially cover buy my lower lip with the lower lip protruding slightly outward.
This applies to sterling, plastic with/without composite headjoint.

    Wow, anyone who …
Wow, anyone who says pic is just like flute is SOO wrong. I played flute for about 3 years, and then I took up piccolo for my junior high band, and it is soo much harder. If you want to sound good then it is much different. The embouchure is different, and so is the air concentration. I know a ton of people who can’t even make one note come out on the piccolo who’ve been playing the flute for nearly 5 years. It’s not that easy.

  • CourtneeMalakian says:

    You can play …
You can play piccolo. Go out and buy one. Thats what I did. And now I play it in my HS marching band.

  • Alice23666 says:

    it’s not true that …
it’s not true that you can just pick up a piccolo and play it like you’ve been playing it forever if you have played flute. you have to focus your air so much more and it’s so hard to get all the notes to be in tune, which is what confuses me about this performance…how are they in such great tune with each other!? it’s amazing! i wish i could play my piccolo that well and with such great sound!
